By the way, one day I went and picked up my son from soccer practice. I use the term “picked up” lightly because, in reality, there was no actual picking up. I left him behind when I pulled away. I swear I had heard the door open and shut & I had, but he never got in! It took me 20 minutes to realize he wasn’t with us. His sad face as I saw him rounding the corner, after walking home, told me everything: I would have a good story to tell for the rest of my life.

Don’t be my son; don’t get left behind.
